ORPHANAGE
At La Maison - Chiangmai, we believe that supporting life is not just about protecting nature and animals. It is also about reaching out to humans and supporting them in the best way possible. It is with great joy that we support the Kirsten Jade Rescue Center (KJRC), a children's shelter located a few kilometers from our establishment.
THE KIRSTEN JADE RESCUE CENTER
Led by Althea Thomsons in Australia and our friend PK on site, the KJRC is responsible for two main projects:
The orphanage: Welcoming 45 children.
Karen Refugee Camp: Located near Mae Hong Son on the war-torn Burmese border, currently home to 12 children.
A LIFE FILLED WITH SMILES
Most of these children have lost their parents, or have parents who are unable to care for them. Some have suffered mistreatment or abuse, but despite everything, smiles light up their faces. The orphanage offers them a safe environment to access education. During the holidays, when possible, they return to their villages to see their families. They also learn to grow fruits and vegetables, seeking to become as self-sufficient as possible, dividing their time between games, school, gardening and community activities.
OUR MISSION
Our goal is not to find adoptive families for these children. We want to give them the means to stay in their country in the best possible conditions, so that they can, in turn, support their community, their families and their villages.
HOW TO SUPPORT US?
To help us support these children, you have three options:
Monthly Sponsorship
Sponsor a child from the orphanage through the association for €30/month (with tax exemption receipt). To do this, contact Althea directly at the following address: althea@arccthailand.com (in English).
Donations of Goods
Bring clothes, underwear, socks, pajamas, toys, stuffed animals, musical instruments, posters, compresses, antiseptics, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpastes, and other essential products (new or in perfect condition) when you visit La Maison - Chiangmai. We store these donations and PK comes to collect them to redistribute them, including in some mountain villages.
Cash Donations
Make a cash donation to La Maison. A donation box is provided for this purpose at the restaurant to finance concrete projects, such as building a greenhouse at the orphanage or improving meals.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteering is also possible if you have skills or a specific project to propose such as:
Permaculture / Agronomy
Crafts / Sewing
Music lessons / Painting / Singing
English or French courses
Games / Animations
MEET YOUR GODCHILD
For future godparents, you will have the opportunity to dedicate a day to meeting your godchild during your stay at La Maison! PK will pick you up to spend a day at the orphanage.
